Buying a pre-owned sailing boat

Pre-owned sailing boats hold their value well and are the most economical way to make passages: between Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza, or to the mainland. This page lists the used sailing boats we have for sale, with photos, price, auxiliary engine, sails and equipment. There are small used sailing boats to get started and 8 to 12-metre cruisers for family sailing.

Before you buy a pre-owned sailing boat, we go over with you the condition of the rig, the sails, the rigging, the engine and the hull, and if you ask, we coordinate an inspection with a haul-out. We support you all the way to the transfer and, if you sail in Mallorca, we advise you on moorings.

Frequently asked questions

Which licence do I need for a sailing boat?

For a sailing boat up to 8 metres the Spanish PNB is enough (by day, up to 5 nautical miles); for sailing boats up to 15 metres, the Spanish PER. With the titulín (Licencia de Navegación) you can skipper sailing boats up to 6 metres.

How much does a pre-owned sailing boat cost?

It depends on the length, the year and the condition of the sails and engine. On this page each sailing boat shows its price; we help you compare.

What to check on a pre-owned sailboat

Beyond the hull and auxiliary engine, check the standing and running rigging, the age and condition of the sails, the winches and the keel. Ask when the rigging was last replaced and for maintenance invoices; we recommend an independent survey before closing.

How buying with us works

  1. Pick a boat and message us with its reference: we confirm availability, price, VAT and paperwork before you travel.
  2. We arrange the viewing at the boat’s marina and, if you wish, a sea trial and an independent survey.
  3. We support the offer, deposit and purchase agreement, and check registration, liens and tax status.
  4. We guide you through the change of ownership and handover. Afterwards we can help with a berth, maintenance or charter management.

Frequently asked questions

Which taxes apply to buying a pre-owned boat in Spain?

A sale between private individuals is normally subject to the regional transfer tax (ITP). If a company sells, the price usually carries VAT. Each listing states the VAT treatment and we confirm it before any offer.

Which licence do I need?

It depends on length and use. As a guide: Licencia de Navegación up to 6 m, PNB up to 8 m and PER up to 15 m. Each listing shows the length and we tell you which licence applies.

Can I view and test the boat before buying?

Yes. We arrange the viewing at the boat’s marina and, before closing, you can request a sea trial and an independent survey.
