Which boats can you skipper with the PNB?

The PNB (Patrón de Navegación Básica, Spain’s basic skipper licence) lets you skipper leisure boats up to 8 metres in length, power or sail, with power suitable for the boat and up to 5 nautical miles from a port, marina or sheltered spot, by day and by night. It is the most practical licence for a 6 to 8-metre boat with a cabin or an open boat for coves.

For PNB outings, identify shelter and the actual route before choosing a model by advertised range. Fuel capacity does not expand the licence limit. Weather, boat equipment and skipper experience also matter. Keep evidence of registered length when buying and check that the proposed engine matches the delivered unit. Recognition of a foreign certificate must be checked for the specific flag and use.

Spain’s Patrón para Navegación Básica covers motorboats up to 8 m in length within 5 nautical miles of a port, marina or shelter. Unlike the Licencia de Navegación, its basic entitlement is not restricted to daylight navigation. This category includes models confirmed for PNB as well as those compatible with the navigation licence. Sailing requires the corresponding supplementary endorsement.

Compare specific information

In the As Marine range, the 26 GL has a 6.99 m registered hull; the 28 GL, 28 GL Open, 28 GLX and 29 GLC have 7.99 m hulls. Their greater overall lengths do not by themselves change that documented measurement. The 29 GLC reaches 9.10 m overall. Match licence, passenger numbers and safety equipment to your actual plans. The CE design category neither expands your licence entitlement nor makes every weather condition suitable.

Prices in this selection

A base price starts a configuration; the final quotation should include every component you will use. Changing engine power or extras in the configurator does not automatically retain a package offer price.
